Cabinet Cost Estimator, explained
How much do kitchen cabinets cost per linear foot?
Kitchen cabinets are commonly priced by the linear foot. As a rough guide, stock cabinets run about $100 to $300 per linear foot, semi-custom about $150 to $650, and custom about $500 to $1,200 or more, before countertops, hardware, and installation. Wall cabinets usually cost less per foot than base cabinets, and tall pantry or oven cabinets cost more.
To estimate a kitchen, measure the linear feet of base, wall, and tall cabinets, multiply each by its rate, and add them up. This calculator does that and shows a low to high range, because real pricing depends on door style, finish, and accessories. For an exact, quote-ready number, a full design with an itemized cabinet list is the only way to be sure.
How it works
How the Cabinet Cost Estimator works.
Estimate = (Base LF x rate) + (Wall LF x wall rate) + (Tall LF x tall rate) - Choose a quality tier to load a typical price per linear foot, then adjust the rate to match your supplier.
- Enter the linear feet of base cabinets.
- Enter the linear feet of wall cabinets.
- Enter the linear feet of tall or pantry cabinets.
- Read the estimated range. It is a ballpark for budgeting, not a quote.
Example: 18 linear feet of base, 14 of wall, and 4 of tall cabinets at a semi-custom rate of $400 per foot estimates roughly $11,000 to $15,000 for the cabinets alone.

Cabinet Cost Estimatorquestions.
-
How much do kitchen cabinets cost per linear foot?
Roughly $100 to $300 per linear foot for stock, $150 to $650 for semi-custom, and $500 to $1,200 or more for custom, before countertops, hardware, and installation. Door style and finish move the number within those ranges.
-
What is a linear foot of cabinets?
A linear foot is one foot measured along the wall the cabinets run on, regardless of height or depth. A 10 foot wall of base cabinets is 10 linear feet of base.
-
Are wall cabinets cheaper than base cabinets?
Usually yes. Wall cabinets are smaller and simpler, so per linear foot they typically run lower than base cabinets, while tall pantry and oven cabinets run higher.
-
Does this estimate include countertops and installation?
No. It estimates cabinets only. Countertops, hardware, appliances, and installation are separate line items. Use this as a budgeting range, then get a real design for exact pricing.
